It is widely rumored that Apple may launch the second generation of wireless AirPods Pro later this year, three years after the first generation came out.

There has been speculation that AirPods Pro 2 might integrate health tracking capabilities for the first time. But a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gorman downplays this possibility.

According to Gorman, the second generation of wireless AirPods Pro will not include any fitness tracking capabilities, as AirPods Pro 2 will likely focus more on audio than health-related features.

Rumors surrounding the AirPods Pro 2 have occasionally touched on the possibility that Apple might add some form of fitness tracking functionality to personal audio devices.

Depending on the rumors, the premium wireless headphones could gain items to enable body temperature monitoring and heart rate monitoring. But it is now believed that fitness features may not necessarily arrive in the 2022 update.

Apple won't bring heart rate to AirPods Pro 2

Mark Gorman wrote in his Power On newsletter that the 2022 AirPods Pro update is unlikely to get a heart rate monitor.

He also confirmed the existence of a new model slated to be launched later in 2022. He said: If you bought the original AirPods Pro when they launched at the end of 2019, your batteries may be near the end of their life or at least their reliability decline, and this may prompt users to upgrade.

It's unlikely that the body temperature and heart rate monitoring features will arrive in the 2022 upgrade. But Gorman adds that both features have been explored in-house and may arrive one day.

And other AirPods Pro 2 rumors suggested that the new features might include a microphone in the redesigned charging case. In addition to the function of hearing aids, support for lossless audio playback, and a speakerphone for emitting sound for the Find My network.

It is reported that AirPods Pro had some reliability and continuity issues. Apple currently has an AirPods Pro Service Program where you can exchange AirPods for free.
